Just a little more

Just finished my weekly bike ride. This time I decided to add another mile (4.8 mi today) by taking Rancho Paseo to Telegraph to Paseo del Rey to H St. It was nice to "open it up" a bit going westbound on Telegraph. I think I reached 23 MPH. Then, my "test" going up Paseo del Rey. I switched to the EASIEST gear, relaxed my grip, told myself to keep my butt on the saddle and just started pedalling. I tried to concentrate on keeping my back relaxed (not hunched) and letting my legs do all the work. Seemed to work out pretty good. I got to J St without any cramps or excessive strain in my muscles. I'll see how the back feels tonight and tomorrow.

Hopefully I can find someone (local to CV) to play tennis with on Thursday.

exercise is good

Aaaah... Y'know, (somewhat) regular exercise feels pretty good. Tennis last Thursday after not playing for a few months was great. I got my butt kicked, but it was fun being back on the court. I was a bit sore the next day. Then, yesterday's morning volleyball at Coronado sand courts worked out another set of muscles. If I can get some exercise tomorrow (maybe biking again), then I'll be on a pretty good exercise schedule for 3 days a week. Maybe that'll help in converting my fat into muscle.

Round Two

Did my quick bike ride again yesterday. Took it a little faster and completed the route in about 17 min. My back feels OK today. I've been concentrating on relaxing my grip (to not strain my back) and just letting my legs do most of the work (novel idea, especially since I AM biking).

I think the extra exercise (Sunday morning volleyball) has really helped by letting other muscles get a workout. I have to believe that I did too much cycling a few months ago without doing much of anything else. That being said, I'm going to try to play tennis tomorrow.
