Something smells fishy...

Ok, so I went on my second fishing boat trip with my coworkers this past Nov 11. It went much better. Although the water was more choppy, the fish were biting. This time we went with Point Loma Fishing for their Half-Day trip in the afternoon (1 pm - 6:30 pm).

What was really cool about this outing was that the Star of India was re-enacting a battle-at-sea with another boat. We could hear and see the fake cannon blasts from each ship from our boat.

I didn't get "action" shots of any of us actually reeling in fish, but here's a picture of my coworkers testing to see who caught the biggest fish. I actually caught the biggest fish! (the one on the right - it's a sand bass)

When we got back to land, we took inventory of our fish. All in all, I caught two rock fish and three sand bass. I caught about four or five mackerel as well. One coworker gave me the two sand bass he caught. He said he went on the trip just for the fun and didn't really want to hassle with cleaning and cooking the fish he caught. My coworkers also gave me almost all the mackerel they caught. Many people don't like the taste or smell of mackerel. I told them my mom likes it so they gave me theirs. A couple of guys kept at least one mackerel to try out. (They told me the next week that they didn't like it much).

Since I don't know how to clean/cook fish, I took the fish to Canine's parents' house. With Canine's dad's help, we got all the fish into a big container:

Canine saw a fish that had something coming out of its mouth. At first we thought it was a tongue, but we later decided it was some type of air bladder that fish have.

This second trip was more fun than my first since I actually caught fish!
